CCD and PSS
As described on the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics website, the
CCD
is
a national database of all public elementary and secondary schools and school districts in the United States.
The CCD survey annually collects data about all public elementary and secondary schools, all local education
agencies, and all state education agencies throughout the United States. CCD contains three categories of
information: general descriptive information on schools and school districts; data on students and staff; and
fiscal data. The
PSS
is a national database of private elementary and secondary schools and school districts in
the United States and collects the same information as the CCD.
IPEDS
IPEDS
is the core postsecondary education data collection program for NCES. Data are collected from all primary
providers of postsecondary education in the country in areas including enrollments, program completions,
graduation rates, faculty, staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. IPEDS defines
postsecondary education as a formal program designed primarily for students beyond the ‘compulsory’ high
school age. This includes programs whose purpose is academic, vocational, or continuing professional
education, and excludes avocational and adult basic education programs.
